For my graphic novel, I showed one of my friends and they had a mellow reaction. This friend complimented my work by saying they loved the artwork and the effort I had put into my graphic novel page to make it understandable. This person had also been confused about how I came up with the idea to make such a simple but relatable, graphic novel page. This friend wanted more pages that continued the story into greater detail. They loved my work, and they understood that I was not the best artist ever but I tried.
Looking back on my graphic novel page, I realize I could have improved it a bit more. I know that I could have added more features to the backgrounds and colors to make it more appealing for the reader. My page was about how two friends were relaxing on the beach and how one of them was missing home so they wanted some comfort food. The comfort food was labouyi which is also known as Haitian oatmeal. One of the friends was able to provide comfort food for their friend to feel better. Even though the artwork might be simple, it’s always about the meaning behind it. The greater meaning was that comfort food would help this friend feel better in the new environment. Comfort food is an important aspect of an environment in which someone would want to be comfortable in. Comfort food is a way for people to be able to feel relaxed and comfortable in different environments that are away from home.
